I was born in Nuneaton, Warwickshire and was raised in Fillongley, and New Arley with my older sister before moving to Bedworth when I met my wife, Wendy in 1990.

I first visited Looe in the early 80s on a family holiday, and immediately fell in love with its charm, beauty and the fishing industry. My dad took me on a 2 hour mackerel fishing trip with Louis Portman, and that 2-hour trip ignited my passion for sea fishing. My dad and I quickly progressed from our mackerel trips to reef fishing, and then onto shark fishing with some of Looe’s fantastic skippers like AJ Pengelly, Bonzo, Ivan Chaston and Ernie Curtis. It was whilst fishing with Ernie that he introduced me to his son’s, James and Philip and this introduced me to the commercial fishing industry and the world of trawling. My dad and I would spend our family holiday sharking with Ernie and trawling with James and Philip.

In 2023 my wife and, I along with our two son’s decided to make Looe our home and we are now officially “Blown Ins” and absolutely loving our new life in Looe. I am now commercial fishing crew after being given an opportunity by David Bond to crew for him on Mystique for the commercial tuna trial, I then moved onto the trawler “Atlantis” where I am full time crew with Ian Spencer. I have recently purchased the former Looe boat “Pania” owned by Ernie Curtis which I am currently working on to get her coded for charter trips
