Festival

The SACGB hold a 3 day shark angling festival each year from the port of Looe. The event is normally held during the month of July.

The draw to see which boat each competitor will fish from each day is held on the Tuesday evening. The competition takes place on the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  The dates for 2024 are,

Draw –  evening of the 9th July in Looe Social Club

Fishing – 10th, 11th & 12th July

Presentation – evening of the 12th July in the Looe Social Club

There are prizes for the:

1. Biggest shark (in points)

2. Runner up to biggest shark (in points)

3. Third place to biggest shark (in points)

4. Most sharks over the three days

5. Most cumulative points over the three days

6. Most cumulative Team points over the three days

7. Skipper with the largest shark caught

8. Skipper with the most sharks caught

All sharks are released

Dinner & Trophy Presentation

The season starts on the 1st October and ends on the 30th September each year. Throughout the season members compete for a number of trophies. These and other awards are presented at the annual dinner & trophy presentation normally held in October.

The date for 2023 is Saturday 28th October at the Hannafore Point Hotel

 

Annual General Meeting

Each year the SACGB hold an AGM which has an open invitation to all members of the club. This is normally held during the July Festival  on the Thursday, but is changing to the Tuesday night from 2022.

At the meeting officers of the club are appointed, rule and process changes ratified and other business discussed as appropriate

The date for 2024 is the 9th June 2024 in the evening at the Looe Social Club
