The Shark club offers two types of membership, as detailed below:
In order to qualify for full membership, a person must catch a shark of qualifying size. As the SACGB operates a catch and release policy, all sharks must be measured, and a qualifying shark is defined as a blue shark that measures no less than 84 inches in length from the tip of the nose to the tip of the tail, or a Mako or Porbeagle shark measuring no less than 54 Inches from the tip of the nose to the fork of the tail.
In January 2004 the club introduced an Associate Membership which is available to anyone catching a shark under the qualifying size.
The joining fee for membership of the club is £20.00 which includes a subscription of £15 for the current year. The membership year runs from January to December.
A Membership application Form must be fully completed, and sent to the following address:
C/o The Harbour Office
It is encouraged that a photograph of your shark is included with your membership application.
Once an application for membership has been received the person applying for membership would be issued with a certificate, membership card, rule book and lapel badge.
As a member the person would receive newsletters and be entitled to compete for the clubs Trophies annually and enter the Annual Shark Fishing Festival at Looe Cornwall.
Only fully paid up members can compete for the clubs trophies.
You can download a copy of the Membership application form here.
We also have club merchandise (sweatshirts etc) available for Full and Associate members to purchase
